LL-37 — Cathelicidin Antimicrobial Peptide
LL-37 is the only member of the cathelicidin family of antimicrobial peptides identified in humans. It is derived from the C-terminal domain of the precursor protein hCAP18 and consists of 37 amino acids. LL-37 has been extensively studied in innate immunity research for its broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria, fungi, and viruses, as well as its immunomodulatory effects on macrophages, neutrophils, and epithelial cells.
